High Saturation Ferrite Vehicle EMP Protection

From $70.00$130.00

These custom high-saturation ferrites are made of a special high-frequency material and uniquely modified to help prevent high-current saturation. Ferrites are clamped around the insulated battery wires, one going around the red wire and one around the black. If your battery has several leads, you can either select the one to protect, or buy additional ferrites for the other leads. See the video below for installation instructions.

Ferrite dimensions: Inner Diameter 0.72″, Outer Diameter 1.5″, Length 1.9″.

Description

Ferrites are devices that clamp around power wires to reduce high-frequency current transients. Most ferrites you see will saturate and stop providing protection when more than a couple of amps flow through the wires. However, these custom-made high-saturation auto ferrites are modified to allow significantly more current through the part before saturating. Watch the video below to better understand their function and installation.

What are high-saturation ferrites?

Ferrites are devices that clamp around power wires to reduce high-frequency current transients. Most ferrites will saturate and stop providing protection when more than a couple of amps flow through the wires. The custom-made high-saturation auto ferrites sold here are modified to allow significantly more current through the part before saturating. Watch the video below to better understand their function and installation.

Ferrites can withstand any normal vehicle transient as well as a nuclear-generated EMP without damage.

When to use high-saturation ferrites?

Clip-on high-saturation ferrites are used in four scenarios:

1. High current is flowing through the wires, and you can’t easily get to the ends of the wires to feed them through a toroid.
2. High current is flowing through the wires, and a clip-on broadband ferrite is not large enough to go around the wire bundle.
3. There is not enough space to fit a large toroid.
4. The application is such that a solid, non-hinging, ferrite is preferred.

High-saturation ferrites are available for the whole-house and automobiles.

When to use broadband ferrites?
Clip-on broadband ferrites are often used to protect small appliances and electronics (e.g., computers, TVs, etc.). They simply clip around the power cord. They can also be used on solar power generation wires and other applications where ease of application is desired.

When to use toroid ferrites?
Toroid ferrites are great to use when you can feed the wire bundle through the ferrite. A good example is when trying to protect solar power generation system batteries. Simply disconnect the leads from the battery, feed through the toroid and reattach the leads to the battery.

How to install ferrites?
Broadband ferrites clip around wire bundles.
High-saturation ferrites clip around individual high-current wires.
Toroid ferrites are placed around wire bundles by feeding the wires through.

1. Will other ferrites work for this application?
Normal ferrites will saturate due to the high currents flowing through the wires. The ferrites offered here are of a special material and carefully modified to increase max saturation levels.

2. Why are these ferrites special?
The ferrites are of a special high-frequency material and have been custom modified to have a higher saturation level.

3. Can I buy these modified ferrites anywhere else?
Not that I know of, no. They are modified in house.

4. Are ferrites alone enough to protect a vehicle from an EMP or solar coronal mass ejection?
Probably not. The addition of transient suppression devices (like the T.R.A.P. products) are also helpful.

5. How many of these ferrites will I need?
Usually, people place one ferrite around the red battery lead and one around the black lead. If your battery has several leads, you can either select the one to protect, or buy additional ferrites for the other leads.
